Green Roof
The Lemar green roof system is a roof felt-based system that uses an inverted layer construction to create a strong and durable roof. This innovative system allows for the collection and efficient management of rainwater, ensuring the safe drainage of rainwater through the layers on the roof. The Lemar Green Roof covers all types of roofs effectively and permanently, using a specially developed and constructed system. Green roofs, also known as “living” roofs, are actually one of the oldest types of roofing. However, their use was rare until the second half of the 20th century and they were considered something unusual and expensive. In 1970, German architect and landscape designer Hans Lutz proposed using “green” roofs to improve the ecological situation in large cities and industrial areas. Today, roof gardens, flower beds, and gardens on roofs have become increasingly popular.
In the green roof system, hydro-insulation materials are used, which prevent roots from penetrating the roof and ensure that planting on the roof does not cause leaks. The system is installed using overlay welding and welding technology. Roofing materials that protect against root penetration help prevent damage to roofing materials by grass and tree roots. Just as plants can grow through asphalt, they can do the same with roofing works if not protected. To solve this problem, special materials were developed that can withstand the destructive force of roots. In the TechnoNICOL research center, the resistance of these materials to root penetration was tested with lupine, known for its powerful root system capable of breaking through both asphalt and thick polymer films. The test results confirmed that the use of hydro-insulation materials with root-resistant protection prevents plant roots from penetrating through the moisture barrier fabric. This ensures the maintenance of plant growth while preserving the hydro-insulation properties.
Over the past ten years, more than 1500 objects have been built using roof covering materials with root-resistant protection, proving their effectiveness and durability in roof structures. Therefore, the Lemar Green Roof is an effective and environmentally friendly choice, allowing for the creation of viable and functional green spaces on roofs while protecting buildings and creating a healthy environment in urban spaces.
