MBB (Multi-Bus-Bar) Technology
MBB technology means that the solar cell is equipped with 12 or 16 bus bars instead of the conventional 4, 5, or 6, resulting in higher power output and improved reliability. MBB uses thin, rounded copper wires that eliminate the need for ribbons across the solar cell. The rounded cross-section enhances optical performance by reflecting more light back into the cell.
PERC (Passivated Emitter and Rear Contact) Cell Structure
The PERC solar cell structure features a passivated rear layer, which prevents radiation from escaping through the back of the cell—thus improving energy absorption and efficiency.
Half-Cut Cell Technology
Half-Cut technology increases panel output by reducing the size of individual cells, allowing twice as many cells to fit into the panel. Smaller cells are more durable, leading to a longer lifespan. Kontio Solar’s monocrystalline solar cells are laser-cut into two independent sections, enabling more efficient energy production even in shaded conditions.
For example, if a tree casts a shadow on the panel, the upper half continues to generate power at full capacity. Additionally, smaller cells reduce internal resistance, minimizing power loss and heat buildup—resulting in higher energy output for you.
Anti-PID (Potential-Induced Degradation) Protection
Kontio Solar’s Anti-PID technology significantly reduces the risk of PID degradation using high-quality quartz glass, which naturally contains sodium. Potential-induced degradation (PID) occurs in solar panels due to a significant potential difference between the semiconductor (solar cell) and other module components, such as glass, mounting brackets, or the aluminum frame.
Kontio Solar’s grounding technology also helps limit the PID effect, ensuring better durability and long-term performance.
